Maya Lulu Isaacs Bryant

Mignon has been saving up for a puppy for a long time.  For her birthday on April 15th, she got permission and a few trips to the shelter.

They said at the shelter that her birthday was probably February 10th, so we can celebrate it on Valentine's Day, with her honorary brother, Figgie!

She is definitely a mutt, but the shelter guessed that she was mostly Border Collie and German Shepherd.   We did our own bit of guessing and now think that she has some Retriever in her, too.

On April 15th (Mignon's birthday), we went to see the puppies to pick out our favorite ones.  We had seen Maya's sister, "Tulip", on the Internet at the Town Lake animal adoption center and wanted to meet her.  When we got there, we found that Tulip had an adorable sister, "Violet", who was slightly smaller, less hyper and she had the most adorable ears we had ever seen.  The next day, we went back to visit the puppies and Meggie picked" Violet" as our future family memeber. We filled out the papers and were approved as owners. On Sunday we went to pick her up and she was filthy.  We had to give her 2 baths before she started to feel soft.  We joked about possibly having a white dog instead of one with German Shepherd coloring.

Maya has been doing fine with the cats (she wants to play with them, which the cats consider an offense, but other than that, she's been great with them), she's been learning the whole housetraining bit very quickly, and has gotten used to the leash amazingly well.

Maya has gone many places with us.  She was with us at the homeschooling comference, she was outside waiting for us during our performances, she went to Nahsville, Tennessee and Branson, Missourri with us in Mary K.'s mother's RV and in all occassions she picked up many friends and had a great time.
